Audrey Tautou

Audrey Tautou was born in Beaumont in the French city of Puy-de Domme on August 9 1976 the oldest of four children. Her parents, a dentist along with a teacher, recognized and backed her passion for theatre and drama from a young age which overcame her initial ambition to be a primatologist due to her obsession with monkeys. The rise of her as a young actress was quick and accompanied by a rapid rise to fame. In 1998 after her studies, she appeared on a French program for scouting talent on TV called Jeunes Premiers which was sponsored by Canal+ and won Best Young Actress at the Beziers Festival of Young Actors before launching her acting career fully. Tautou studied at her school, the Institut Catholique de Paris, and was a member of the church when she was an early girl. She has since removed herself from this history. The actress claims she's not legally Catholic. Alongside her acting career, Tautou pursued modelling and was the model for L'Oreal Mont Blanc as well as Chanel. As well as her acting career She also takes an interest in photography. The actress recently showed some of her photographs at the Arles Film Festival under the name Superficial. Her photography is focused on celebrities, fame and the press that scrutinized her after her rise to fame in Amelie. Also, she has numerous photographs of her own self. Audrey Tautou shot to stardom as well as international recognition with her first major role starring as the lead role in Le Fabuleux Destiny d'Amelie. Amelie has been a global box-office hit and was a cult hit at numerous international awards ceremonies. It remains the highest grossing French language film to be released in the US. Following the film, she appeared in many films ranging from British films to Jean Pierre Jeunet's long dimanche de fiancailles. Later, she made her way to Hollywood and co-starred with Tom Hanks alongside Ron Howard in The Da Vinci Code.
